The Lid Comes Down

lossnaturemusicmemorymortalitydrumming

How do you breath

In close confines

When the sides draw in

The lid comes down

How do you live

When the lightness

Of a song birds voice

Rattles your chamber

How do you determine

When there is choice

If eardrums burst

To the sound of a church mouse

Where is the rain

In the afternoon

As the sun burns

Through your protection

The lid comes down

On the piano

As the music ends

The dust sheet drawn

Dead men weep

Silken tears

For yesterday

When the dream is done

How do you breath

Through suffocation.
