Open the door

lossmusicloveidentitysolitude

Open the door

It is double locked

To prevent easy access

For the merely curious

The mildly interested

Or plainly disingenuous

Who leave their fingerprints

Across your heart

Prise carefully woven

Stitches apart

To reveal

The soft flesh

On the inside

Before moving on

Leaving you open to

Further invasion

By itinerants and

Belligerent militants

Who rifle through

Other people’s lives

Turn out a bottom drawer

Spread its contents

Over the floor

And urinate

Laughing in the face of

Their own disgrace

They diminish themselves

Even as they empty

The shelves

Crush your defeat

Beneath their feet

Walk over your soul

With little regard

For the human cost

Not all is lost

They can never steal

Your resolve

To remain

Open to persuasion

If you have occasion

Open the door

With a modicum

Of trepidation

And the wisdom

You have earned

A change of life

Need not be spurned

You have a choice

Rejoice
